Last Saturday, December 9th, from IYC Suomi we organized a Solidarity Padel Tournament. It was the first time that this was done from our organization and it was a total success.
The idea of this tournament came up with the help and generosity of Charlie Cedercreutz, who not only provided us with the use of several paddle courts, but it was he who invited several of his friends to participate in the tournament and thus be able to help us. Thank you Charlie.
The afternoon was very entertaining, the players put all their effort and strength to achieve the victory. We did several rounds until we had a couple of finalists, who were awarded with a nice Christmas basket and a bottle of champagne.
We had a great time both players and spectators, especially because we knew that this tournament was not like any other, this time we were not playing for us, but to give a smile on Christmas to several children in distant regions. And it turns out that, in this charity tournament, all the funds raised would go to another of our projects: the Christmas campaign. With this project we raise money so that children from poor regions in Peru and Mexico can have a Christmas gift.
It was a nice experience to combine sports and solidarity, we are sure we will do many more!
